Anxiety / Excessive Worry

Is your head filled with spinning thoughts? Perhaps you have trouble feeling grounded or are unable to sleep due to constant worry. Collaboratively, we will work to reduce those anxious thoughts, increase your ability to get sleep and stay asleep, manage your worry and feel better again. We will work together to reduce negative symptoms of worry as well as explore underlying issues that get in the way of you feeling calm and competent.

Depression

Depression can be totally debilitating. You have trouble sleeping but then have trouble getting out of bed. You feel a sense of hopelessness. Maybe you've considered suicide. I have years of experience supporting people with depression and we will work together to help you lessen the intensity of your symptoms and move you toward improving the quality of your life and relationships.

Substance Abuse

Is your substance abuse starting to spin out of control? Does it feel like substance use occupies most (or all) of your time and seems to be taking over? Now might be a good time to begin finding positive ways to better manage your use. I have a decade of experience offering non-judgmental, effective therapy for people wanting to better manage or stop substance use.

Couples

Your relationship with your partner feels stuck. You might be having the same conflicts over and over with seemingly no resolution. Maybe there was an affair or betrayal and the emotional intimacy you once experienced now seems fleeting or elusive. I utilize an action-oriented, strengths-based developmental model to catalyze the change needed to move your relationship forward and create the closeness you want.

LGBT

I don't need to tell you how demoralizing and hurtful it can be to start psychotherapy with someone who is either clueless about or even hostile toward LGBT concerns. I am committed to working with your issues and have over 15 years of service to the LGBT community.

People of Color / Bi-racial

Finding a culturally competent therapist can sometimes be a daunting experience. You may find yourself exasperated by trying to "educate"or "enlighten" your therapist about what it means to face racism on a daily basis. You may feel like issues related to your cultural background are being ignored. I will attend to your cultural and racial identity and the many ways it impacts your daily life.
