My Approach to Psychotherapy
It is my belief that emotional pain, suffering and wounding that occur in relationships (particularly early, primary relationships) can sometimes impede an individual’s ability to have the full, rich and rewarding life and relationships (work relationships, family relationships, friendships and romantic relationships) they deserve.
I believe that it is through relationship that people learn how to process their pain, grieve, and ultimately find healing. Therefore, I work to create a warm, caring, respectful environment where clients can begin to explore and uncover difficult or upsetting feelings, memories and thoughts. Through the therapeutic relationship itself, client’s can experience a relationship built on respect, authenticity, compassion and empathy that they can use to heal their wounds, develop a stronger sense of themselves and grow.
Therapy begins with a thorough examination of the problems bringing you into treatment. In a collaborative environment, we will develop a treatment plan specifically tailored to your needs. Typically, therapy initially focuses on providing the client with some symptom relief. Later, therapy can move toward exploration of deeper issues, helping you gain a stronger understanding of yourself, your strengths and work toward empowering you to live the fullest life possible.
