Adolescents

Adolescents

Adolescence can be a really stressful time. There are so many changes happening both physically and emotionally. There may be conflicts with your parents, brothers, sisters and friends. You may feel like you don't fit in with the different cliques at school. Perhaps it feels like nobody's listening. Maybe you feel like you aren't "good enough." We will work together to help you navigate through difficult times and make sense of the complex, sometimes conflicting emotions you are feeling.

Bullying

Sadly, bullying is a fact of life for too many teens. People are victimized by bullies for things they often cannot control--appearance, race or culture, jealousy, a disability, sexual orientation, "being different" and so on. Someone who is bullied can exhibit a whole host of painful symptoms, including excessive worry, insomnia, isolation, intense sadness. First and foremost, therapy offers a space for you to talk openly about the painful experiences you are going through and help you better understand all of your emotions. Together, we will identify supportive resources as well as develop proactive, empowering strategies to combat the bullying.

Parents of Adolescents

It can be difficult to stay grounded and give your child undivided attention when he/she seems out of control, angry or inconsolable. You may not even know how to respond or understand where all of these emotions are coming from. We will work together to help you and your teen improve communication and understanding so that you can forge a stronger relationship.

Play Therapy

Most of the time, therapy involves talking. Sometimes, though, it can be difficult to express feelings with words. I offer unstructured play therapy and art therapy for those times when you prefer to just express yourself through an activity.
